Derived from French and Italian academic techniques and the philosophy of Boston School Painters, Polins Atelier seeks to teach painting and drawing in the tradition of natural and Contemporary Realism.
As a student, you will be immersed in a progressive curriculum of study through direct observation of shape, line, and color. By combining coursework with demonstrations and group discussion, students are exposed to an in-depth artistic philosophy alongside the fundamentals of painting and drawing. You will be empowered to create art that is meaningful and powerful.

Start with your first Bargue Drawing.
Students begin with a guided reproduction drawing known as Bargue drawing. Learn how to prepare materials, judge your approach and control graphite, paper, erasers and outcome.

Our Story
Founded by artist Jason Polins, our curriculum combines his extensive training in school, studying the works of master painters, and working in world renowned Ateliers, as well as, from life and nature. We provide the fundamentals of drawing and painting while searching for aesthetic beauty in art and investigating direct study of nature as the foundation. It remains our job as a learning institution to be a source of stimulation and healthy competition, all while mastering the practices needed to develop rewarding careers and lives in the arts.
There is great value to imparting in those seeking sound education in painting and drawing, the highest degree of competence.

Jason Polins
Jason graduated from Boston University’s Visual Arts Program then attended Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. After graduating, he returned to Boston area to pursue direct studies with notable painters such as Nelson Shanks and Gary Hoffmann. Both of whom Jason remain closely connected to as mentors and friends.
Moved by the beauty of nature and our modern world. His genre of expertise include portraiture, figure, still life and landscape/cityscape. Jason works in graphite, charcoal and oil paint.
Outside of Polins Atelier, he also teaches art classes in oil painting, drawing at several local art centers.
